Safety
OUR COMMITMENT
Safety is of our highest concern in all of the MID STATE CONSTRUCTION operations. Performance of employee services in work places free of unnecessary hazards is a critical part of our operating methods. Safety continues to be an important and integral aspect of the success of MID STATE CONSTRUCTION.
Our commitment to employee safety is continuously growing on a daily basis. We understand that the success of our company relies on the completion of our contractual obligations without interruption and/or delay. Employee safety plays a major role in accomplishing this goal.
Our employees are our biggest asset and keeping them safe and able to go home to their families at the end of the day is our goal.
Mid State Construction enlists the help of a third-party Safety Technician that regularly visits our project sites to verify that the safety program is properly addressing the hazards of construction. Projects are audited for properly planned safety procedures during particularly hazardous stages such as excavations, fall protection, and confined-space entry.
Safety ultimately begins with the training and knowledge of proper work practices and expectations of all of our employees. Every individual is trained to work safely. Our written Safety Program provides immediate guidance and direction for all employees. As a condition of employment, each employee must consistently work in a safe manner.
Our training programs consist of a wide variety of courses. All personnel receive at minimum the necessary training as required by OSHA which could include the OSHA 10 Hour Construction Course and/or the OSHA 30 Hour Construction Course. Some of the other training courses given to our employees include Competent Person, Confined Space, Certified Flagger Training, Safe Trenching and Excavation Practices.
Supervisors are certified in First Aid and CPR. We strive to exceed the minimum requirements by requiring participation of mandatory training programs not required by state or federal regulations. Our commitment to safety is driven by management, supervisors, and our employees.
To further manage our safety program, we have instituted several continuing education and training programs which include “The Tool Box Talks.” This program consists of a weekly newsletter issued to each supervisor. Contained in this newsletter are various topics for weekly safety training. This program is mandatory for all employees and verified by attendance sheets.
